Day 16 - Driving to Senja (South) and exploring Skrolsvik fort
We leave around 8.30am and 5 min later we see reindeer!
We drive to Senja south and we had rain the whole day!
We visit Skrolviks Fort. Situated on the southwestern edge of Senja, Skrolsvik Fort served as a German military site during the Second World War.
After the conflict ended, it was transferred to the Norwegian Naval Defence and remained in use as a coastal artillery installation until it was decommissioned in 1989
At the bottom of this page, you will find a link to a video by 'JayBe Outdoor TV', which also features footage of part of the underground area, including the bunker itself
We drive to Røtsand and take some pictures. We make some photo stops.
Around 3pm we check in at the hotel and we have dinner at 7pm.
Patrick has fish and chips and Nathalie the cod.
After dinner it stops raining, we walk around the hotel and have a chat with the German fishermen who caught halibut, skrei and cod.
Apparently they come here many years now for the excellent fishing opportunities.
In 2020 they caught a halibut of 2.30m long! Then back to our room for a good sleep.
